Content Scramble System (CSS) is a data encryption and authentication scheme intended to prevent copying video files directly from DVD-Video discs. CSS was developed primarily by Matsushita and Toshiba. Each CSS player licensee is given a key from a master set of 409 keys stored on every CSS-encrypted disc. The theory was to allow a license to be revoked by removing its key from future discs. The CSS decryption algorithm exchanges keys with the drive unit to generate an encryption key that is then used to obfuscate the exchange of disc keys and title keys that are needed to decrypt data from the disc. DVD players have CSS circuitry that decrypts the data before it’s decoded and displayed, and computer DVD decoder hardware and software must include a CSS decryption module. All DVD-ROM drives have extra firmware to exchange authentication and decryption keys with the CSS module in the computer.

The output files may have different sizes, based on the user setting and options. The user is recommended to have at least 2GB (2000MB) of free space on any hard disk.
The reasons may be below:
Cheap DVDs
Remember, DVDs are just a few cents worth of plastic, manufactured in massive quantities. Sometimes you end up with a bad disk or a bad batch. Try a new disk, or a whole new brand, and you may have more luck burning your DVDs.
Dirty DVD Drive
Dust or debris in your DVD burner can prevent it from burning DVDs correctly. Buy a lens cleaning disk and use it in your DVD burner drive. This can clean things up and give you a clean, successful burn.
DVD Burning Speed
It’s always tempting to burn DVDs at the highest speed possible. In theory, you’ll save time and can get more DVDs burned. In practice, though, higher speeds can result in unreliable burns.
Slow things down and set your DVDs to burn at 4x or even 2x. This may eliminate errors.
Overworked Computer
Sure, we all love to multi-task. Most of the time your computer can handle many tasks simultaneously, but DVD burning isn’t necessarily one of them.
When burning DVDs, step away from the computer and let it concentrate all of its energy on burning the disk. This can often prevent random errors during the burning process.
When you burn a DVD, you’re given the option of burn speed (2X, 4X, 8X etc). The slower the burn, the more reliable the disk will be. In fact, some DVD players won’t even play disks burned at speeds greater than 4X.
A DVD burner refers to a unit that is either an external add-on or internal DVD drive for a PC or MAC (like a CDR/RW drive) that can record video, but can also read and write computer data and store it on a blank DVD disc. DVD Burners used in this manner are also sometimes referred to as DVD Writers.
